toor dal recipe

Since one of my favourite bloggers, Linda of 'Out of the Garden',
extended the last submission date for JFI: Toor dal to December 7, I
thought I would take the opportunity to submit one more recipe for the
round-up.
For this recipe, I only changed one ingredient — and my
guess is it was the most important one — the dal! The original recipe
calls for horse gram, and after tasting this with toor dal, I will
certainly try it with kollu as well.
The following recipe calls for
Toor dal ( lentils ) spiced with green chillies and tamarind for the
sourness. This dish is so simple yet quickly adds up to good health
and great taste. Look for sharp ridges and when pressed your nail

Toor daal is pressure cooked and boiled after adding salt and a
pinch of turmeric powder. The combination of varan bhaat toop loncha
(Daal Rice Ghee Pickle) is delicious and comforting. The recipe below

another delicacy from the kongu region and my second entry for JFI -
Toor dal. This is a simple, no-nonsense one-pot dish and really easy
to make. I make this dish when I need a quick fix for a no-compromise

to go simple this time, just the Toor dal takda or talimpu. This
does'nt even need a recipe writing.
